Welcome to A To Z On Mindfulness For Newbies
The fourth letter to be explored in A To Z on Mindfulness For Newbies is D. D is for Detox.
Detox
In this modern era, we are tired of unhealthy food, unhappy people, unreal digital world and unending mind chatters. So detox is very much essential to clean our body, mind and digital presence.
Detox or cleansing is an alternate type of treatment which aims to rid of the body, mind, digital presence and life from unexpected, unwanted and unspecified toxins.
According to me, there are three main kinds of detox that are needed in your life:
- Physical Detox or Body Cleansing – Cleaning our physical body from toxins and chemicals.
- Spiritual Detox or Mind Cleansing – Cleansing our mind from toxic thoughts, toxic people, and toxic things.
- Digital Detox or Disconnection Therapy – Disconnecting from your digital world once in a while.

My Way Of Detox In Life
- Buying only organic, homemade, natural or herbal products.
- Moving away from toxic and negative minded people.
- Following the theory of minimalism to simplify my life.
- Practicing everyday mindfulness to detox my mind.
- Doing Body Scan Meditation to thank my physical body.
- Growing plants in my garden to cleanse my breath.
- Grounding myself by practicing gratitude.
- Spending time in silence during my Yoga and Meditation.
- Disconnect once in a while to connect with my self.
- Blogging my thoughts and ideas to make myself stress-free and happy.

Awesome post Vasantha, and I agreed detox should be a part of our everyday life. you had explained all the aspects of detox so well. among the, digital detox is one of the biggest challenge for all of us. and we all need to perform it more seriously. thanks for sharing this great information. #BlogchatterA2Z
Thank you so much Surbhi !!!
Love your thoughts on Detoxing the mind. I would pick my favourite which does wonders to my mind and thats removing negative people from my life 🙂
Glad you liked the post, Ramya !!!
So nicely written! Agree with you Vasantha, daily detox should be our first priority.
Thanks, Bhavana !!!
I think I can do with all the detox – physical, mental, digital. While, physical and digital detox is something that can be done easily, it is the mental detox which is pretty challenging. But yes, with daily practice, mediation and mindfulness, this can be handled as well.

Thanks, Shilpa for your expressive comment.
I really need digital detox, especially ever since I started blogging. I usually do it when I am feeling too overwhelmed with gadgets and then for 1 whole day or weekend I stay away from all of them. But I think as you have mentioned, taking small steps everyday is a healthier approach. I am going to try this. Thank you!
You are right, Mahak. Thanks.
i liked your ways of detox vasantha. to be honest, i tried the infused water few times. i gave up ass i did not like that. life is short, and i did not really want to squeeze myself into so many limitations. I practice that detox which helps me to keep going. i do yoga, listen to good songs, read books ( i almost read anything and everything), eat food if i am really carving for high calorie or high fat.. i dont count the calories or then walk the treadmill. that instance i get the joy, which matters me most. this post is awesome.. subscribing to your mindfulness newsletters. D is for Dare. Do have your say on my post as well. https://syncwithdeep.wordpress.com/2018/04/04/d-dare-to-dream-blogchattera2z-atozchallenge-atoz/
Thanks a lot for your detailed appreciating comment. I agree with everything you expressed. Its always good to live in the present. thanks for subscribing, dear !!!
That was a great info on detoxification. Digital detox is a big yes in today’s time. Detox not only refreshes it also relaxes for new energy.
Rightly said.
You know Vasantha, i try to do all of them..but as the saying goes “it is easier to preach than practice”. I often fall in my own trap. I really feel motivated again after reading your post. So will try soon.
True, Balaka. that happens to me also. But you have to focus again mindfully. That’s our real challenge.
These detox ideas look cool and amazing. will definitely try some of them. Till then do read my D blog post on travel here http://saba-relishingrascal-scribbles.com/2018/04/03/darjeeling-the-drooling-beauty-of-india/
Thanks a lot.
A much needed post Vasantha.. you have explained the need to detox so very well and convincingly. Well done to come up with a post so timely!
Thanks for your encouraging words.
Digital detox is the need of the hour and the time saved can be spent for other productive things or can even be devoted to family.
You are right, Rohan !!!
Very informative and relevant post, Detox is something so important that one needs to regularly detox in order to be healthy, i like the detach and declutter which is so very important, I am consciously checking on my body, mind and digital balance. I need to focus on detach and decluttering both in physical space and psychological space too.. thanks for sharing:)
Thanks for your lovely comment.
Lovely tips Vasantha. We all keep trying to follow them, but keep falling back way to often. I need to find a way to detox the “fall back” mode. Thank you for sharing.

I do intend to go on a digital detox once this challenge is over. 🙂
Me too planning the same.
Detox does help a lot. Rightly said 🙂
Thanks.
great post – I probably need to go on a digital detox!!
Thanks.
Reminds me I should do a digital detox soon..may be after the A to Z 🙂
Ha …. Ha … All need to do.
Well your detox challenge is one difficult thing for the new age screenizens. I agree with each of your tasks on the digital detox list.
So true.
A much needed post… I am definitely going to implement this really soon… especially the digital detox.. I find myself using screens way too much
Do try and let me know.
I find that a digital detox is a good thing, and I usually do mine by taking a long walk. I do bring my phone with me, but I only use it if I need a ride home. Other than that, I don’t touch it. I need a physical and mental detox, with the latter being the most challenging to accomplish.
You are right, Alice !!!
Tough at first, but then feel free. I switch screens as a slight detox!
Yes, you have to.
Yes indeed, we keep spending out time with devices and lose our perspective on life and further it is extremely harmful also. Digital Detox is the need of the hour.
Thanks.
Loved your digital detox menu. I am going to print it and stick it right in front of my desk. Good one!
