7 Everyday Practices For Mindful Moms

When I decided to participate in second edition of BarAThon, I was thinking whether to go for theme seven or to go for the given prompts. And finally made a decision to go for theme seven since I wrote for the given prompts in my first edition of BarAThon. So my theme for second edition of BarAthon is 7 Everyday Practices For Mindful Moms.

What is Being Mindful or Mindfulness?

Being Mindful or Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way;

On purpose,
in the present moment, and
non judgmentally.”

Jon Kabat-Zinn

Mindful or Mindfulness is being aware of present moment without any judgement or hard feelings. Cultivating the practice of mindfulness can be a powerful way to train our minds and tune into the beauty of here and now.

Mindfulness

Why Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is the current buzzword around the web. And it’s getting viral than anything else now. But that is not the reason for my decision. As you all know, word of the year, I chose for 2017 was Mindful. So its more than a justification for my word choice.

Why Seven?

I have already justified this in my first para. If you could recollect Why Seven?, you can continue reading.  😉  😉  😉 Otherwise, sorry my dear. You get back to read my first para.  😛  😛  😛

Why everyday practices?

Any new habit can yield its best results only if practiced everyday. So here I am going to give you 7 everyday practices that are simple yet powerful ones. All these practices were self tested and proven ones. Hope you will enjoy this mindful journey with me.

Why moms?

Mindfulness is almost needed for all – moms, parents, kids, teens, teachers. And I chose mindfulness for moms since they are the vital backbone of a family. If moms love being mindful, then it becomes easy to inculcate the habit of being mindful to kids and others. Moms are super moms too, when they are mindful moms.

How to practice mindfulness everyday?

Here in this BarAthon challenge, I’m going to guide you with simple 7 Everyday Practices For Mindful Moms. This will contain worksheets, methods, practices, observations, discussions and reflections. So are you ready for the mindfulness journey??? Stay tuned …….. Suggestions are most welcome.

  1. That’s a good lot of words on mindfulness!
I had no idea about it’s going viral!!!
    Good write!

  2. Looking forward to reading your tips on Mindfulness for moms. I have been trying to learn more about mindfulness at least out of curiosity but haven’t made a sincere effort yet.

  3. What a great topic for the challenge! I look forward to reading your posts. Mindfulness is something moms and everyone in general should pay more attention to. I know I am bad at it and tend to daydream or fret or regret instead of paying attention to the now which is all we have.

    1. Thanks Anamika. Mindful planner helps to plan for what you think to be mindful on particular day and your observation on that activity. It helps me a lot in recording my mindful moments.

  4. Loved reading your handy tips for moms for mindfulness. I’m a great believer of the mindfulness practice and find it makes me much more effective in my role as a parent to my newly-turned teen! Moms should never ever undermine the role of keeping the focus on their self-development goals alongside looking after the kids. It is no longer an option, it is a must!

  5. Very positive post:-) Made me smile, and I practice this too- at least many of the same elements – being present in NOW – letting go of yesterday and not worrying about tomorrow. In contact with yourself. Big part of a happy life – thanks for inspiring:-)

  6. Wow .. I am trying to be a mindful mom but at times there are so many things going on in my mind.

  7. I regularly practice yoga and it helps me immensely. It has increased my concentration levels. It has given me more control over my mind and body.
