Welcome to A To Z On Mindfulness For Newbies
The sixth letter to be explored in A To Z on Mindfulness For Newbies is F. F is for Focus.
One of the key ingredients of mindfulness is the Focus. We are living in an era of multitasking and more mind chatters. So we lack our focus naturally. But it can be much improved by practicing mindfulness.
“The present moment is filled with joy and happiness. If you are attentive, you will see it.”
~Thích Nhất Hạnh
Focus
The focus is an act of concentrating your interest in an activity or something. It helps in increasing your attention and your productivity.
I am proud to say that I am an ardent lover of quotes. So today I am going to share my favorite quotes with you all.

My Favorite Quotes About Focus

Quiet your thoughts and get focused. Then you can hear the unspoken words too.

Direct your energy on the present rather than the past or the future.

Lessen your distractions to get you focused.

If you want success, see your blessings and not your sufferings.

Life is beautiful when you focus on the good.

The Mental Focus Exercise
- Place a candle in front of you and start focusing on its bright flame.
- Just look at the flame as long as you can.
- When your mind begins to wander, don’t rush to a conclusion, but gently acknowledge your thoughts and then lovingly bring your thoughts to the flame you are focusing.
- The longer you are able to focus on the object, the more your mindfulness will increase.
- You could also focus on your breathing.

I need to do this exercise . I am very bad at multitasking. I worry when there is too much to do. I think it’s because I can’t focus well. The candle exercise will be useful to me. Thanks Vasantha

I have not practiced any focus exercises as such, but I think my mind wanders if I am working on something which I do not like doing. So at such times, such exercises can be helpful.

I loved your quotes Vasantha and thank you for sharing them . I particularly think Wknston Churchill’s is. Good reminder for us NOT to get distracted by negativity- another deterrent to focusing on the present
