Our words have the power to build up or tear down.
“Words are singularly the most powerful force available to humanity. We can choose to use this force constructively with words of encouragement, or destructively using words of despair. Words have energy and power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate and to humble.” Yehuda Berg
Choosing a Word of the Year is a new idea for me inspired by Vinitha andLaurel. Then I read all the posts in the linkup. I was terribly excited and was curious to choose mine. I consistently engaged myself in self analyzing to make my word choice. Really this process itself had transformed me a lot. Hence the WORD should also make me happy.
Words carry immeasurable significance: The universe was created with a word, OM; The ancients believed that the spoken words contained the power and authority of the Gods. Words can inspire us to achieve goals or they can hold us back from doing something. The power of words is magical, spiritual, incredible, amazing and enlightening. Nothing is more powerful than words when used well in your life.
As an Indian, I know well the power of words as Mantra. One of the most powerful mantras is Gayatri Mantra. Chanting this mantra have several benefits as improvised concentration and calmness. So decided to go with the WORD.
After doing more research and analysis, I selected the WORD of the year 2016 as EMPATHY.

Coping with Diversity
Fostering good, pleasurable and positive feelings

Achieving inner peace
Connecting with people

It may not always be easy, or even possible, to empathize with others but, through constant awareness and commitment, I hope I go by the WORD by all means.
By being empathetic I may definitely enjoy better relationships with others and greater well-being through life.
That’s a beautiful mantra and a great start to my morning. Thank you!
