This MOM’s Life

Today I am so happy to share the mommy feelings of my friend  Anamika Agnihotri of the bespectacled mother. Her posts are well reached by many audiences. And I love her poetry and Micro-Blog Mondays very much.  She became friend with me recently through blogging. But I feel we resemble each other in many ways. First I got attracted to her blog by its name only. Yes, I am also a spectacles mummy. Both got arranged marriage. I too have only one son. I also enjoy parenting and writing. And many more such resemblances. Hence I feel much comfortable with her. Thanks, dear Anamika for being so friendly to share your thoughts for me.

Anamika Agnihotri is a stay-at-home mom of a 4-year-old boy, Dhruv.
She completed an MBA in 2004 and worked in the corporate sector for 9 years before giving up her job in 2013 when her son turned 2. Giving up the job and career was not an easy decision for her. Though it was driven by circumstances, she promised herself never to regret this decision and she has never done so. She simply says “It was all about accepting”.The first year of being a Stay-at-home mom was very difficult for her but after that, it has been a considerably easy sail.

She started blogging in 2014 with the primary intent of noting, jotting and penning down her motherhood and parenting journey. And, over a period of last 1 and a half years that she has been blogging, She happily shares her feeling as ” I have made many amazing connections “.

She wishes to tell one fact about herself. There is one thing she detests most although it is the most important activity she does for the family and that is cooking. She has been doing it religiously for the last 2 years and still, she has not got used to like it.

 1.       What three words describe you as a mother?

Easy-going, relaxed and fun-loving mother.

2.       What’s the parenting rule you never break?

 I never turn down my son’s request for a ‘jaadu ki jhappi’, that is hugs.

3.       And one rule you do break?

 I break all the other rules once in a while if Dhruv, my son, does not feel like doing it or obeying it. I find it easier to let go then trying to stick to the rules.

4.       How do you spend time off for yourself?

  Reading books – Dhruv’s and mine.

5.       What’s the best part of your day?

The first half of the day when my son is in school and I get to spend some quiet time alone at home. This is the time I either spend reading, watching a movie, blogging or just taking a nap.

6.       What’s your favorite guilty pleasure?

 Guilt….not for me (hhahah)

7.       What five things can always be found in your refrigerator?

 Fruits, vegetables, milk, yogurt, and Juices.

8.       What words describe you as a wife and a mom?

I believe myself to be the person who keeps the family grounded. I prefer in maintaining peace and not arguing for the sake of enforcement of each one’s ideas but, yes, sometimes I too loose my cool.

9.       Do you have a family ritual that you love?

We don’t have any rituals as such but we enjoy doing the weekly grocery shopping as a family.

10.   What are the 3 best things you love to teach your child?

1. Sharing.
2. Being kind and to respect others, the domestic help being no exception.
3. Having your own opinion irrespective of the general mindsets.
