Hello, Shilpa Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Shilpa: I am a corporate trainer by profession and reader and baker by passion. I observe a lot by watching and that gives a lot of fodder for my blog. I love finding extraordinary in the ordinary life around me and that reflects in my posts on this blog. I have been blogging since 2009 and still love every minute of it. As much as I love getting a cup of coffee/tea and enjoying some alone time with a book, having a conversation with friends over coffee/tea is something I relish.

Q1. An ever since moment in your blogger life or your turning point in blogging.

ShilpaWhen Corinne from Everyday Gyaan started Write Tribe. This community changed the way I blogged. I love the camaraderie and connect with like-minded bloggers. The weekly creative challenges ensure that the creative juices flow freely and the counsel on various blog-related queries is priceless too.

Q2. Your definition of blog success.

ShilpaA blog that has compelling content, consistency and connects with the readers is what makes it successful.

Q3. Your top 2 regular practices that have helped you in blogging.

Shilpa

  • Writing regularly.
  • Writing reflects my authentic self… who I really am.

Q4. Your motivational factor for your best blog.

ShilpaI write because it is my space to express and connect with like-minded people.

Q5. One relationship who contributed to making your blog.

Shilpa: My family and friends who supported me when I started blogging. There weren’t any readers initially and I pestered them to read. Their encouragement kept me going.

I write because it is my space to express and connect with like-minded people.

– Shilpa Garg

Q6. One factor, out of your comfort zone in blogging.

Shilpa: Video Blogging. Though I have made 2 personal videos and shared on social media, I think this form of blogging is pretty challenging.

Q7. A book / movie / person / blog that transformed you.

Shilpa: Many actually. But The Forty Rules of Love by Elif Shafak is my favorite for its profound insights and learnings about life and love.

Q8. Your strength and weakness as a blogger.

Shilpa:

  • Strength: Connections through blogging that have transcended from the virtual world to real life.
  • Weakness: I don’t have much of the tech know-how of HTML codes and other tech tools. I am better than before, but still, have miles to go in this field.

Q9. One principle you are proud of.

Shilpa: Honesty in my writing.

Q10. Blogging tips to share with your readers.

Shilpa:

  • Be consistent and persistent.
  • Help and support fellow bloggers.
  • Stay true to yourself and your voice. People read you not so much for what you say, but how you say it.
  • Leave meaningful and engaging comments.
  • Make your content easy to share. Configure your social media handles on the social sharing buttons.
