With this “Chill Chat With Cool Bloggers” series, I have featured many blogger friends so far. For the first time, I feel extremely happy to feature my closest and the only blogger friend who I have met in person. A highly multi-talented, loving soul and also my most loving blogger friend Ms. Kala Ravi of “Relax-N-Rave”. Glad that I met such an honest and kind-hearted friend in this virtual world.
Kala blogs about Décor, Lifestyle, Humour, Fiction and so much more that are most appreciated. Today I am very much delighted to feature Ms. Kala to our readers. We had our chat to know more about her successful blogging mantra and her fun side too. Carry on, to enjoy her words of blogging wisdom.
Chill Chat With Cool Blogger Ms. Kala Ravi
Hello, Kala Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Ms. Kala: My blog bio says this: Mommy Dearest, Interior Designer, DIY-er, Dreamer and Blogger. So who am I really? A person who is, a little curious, a little lazy, a little creative, a little doer, a little derisive, a little appreciative, a little crazy, a little fun, a little romantic, a little serious, a little hoarder, a little shopaholic, a little dreamer …with a whole lot of imagination! I firmly believe we can all do a lot better with a healthy dose of humor in our lives!
Q1. An ever since moment in your blogger life or your turning point in blogging.
Ms. Kala: Hmm…still waiting for the big moment! I know it is surely going to happen! So right now I’d say the fact that I know this, is good enough to keep me going! “Good things are coming” is better than, “The best is over”. Blogging is still WIP for me!
Q2. Your definition of blog success.
Ms. Kala: Blog success is as fleeting as a politician’s vote bank promise. One day your blog could be the talk of the town and the next day you have to hope people don’t ask, relaxnrave..what? So as ephemeral as blog success is, a blog is a success if people remember the blog for its good content and want to go back to it because it always offers them something they can relate and look forward to.
Q3. Your top 2 regular practices that have helped you in blogging.
Ms. Kala:
1) Connect with your audiences. Create content that is relevant, useful, engaging and entertaining.
2) Connect with like-minded bloggers. Never underestimate the power of a support system. Keep connected with bloggers, writers whose writing motivates you to do better. Blogger pals can help you to do your best and push you to get moving when you are stuck or on an extended writing hiatus.
Q4. Your motivational factor for your best blog.
Ms. Kala: While I enjoy doing my humor posts the best, technically my décor posts are more sought after. My motivation for doing them initially was when I got sucked into the AToZ blogging challenge fever of 2016. The challenge demanded I complete 26 posts on my selected theme of Home-N-Interiors through the month of April. So yes, challenges are motivating!
Q5. One relationship who contributed to making your blog.
Ms. Kala: I’d like to say it was a one-woman show but of course it wasn’t! My husband, daughter, son, my mother, other family members and one dear friend, in particular, are the raison d’être of my blog. Patiently reading my posts, giving me their valuable insights and forever being kind and encouraging, they’ve been there for me.
Q6. One factor, out of your comfort zone in blogging.
Ms. Kala: Politics, Tech & Finance blogging are definitely out of my league.
Q7. A book / movie / person / blog that transformed you.
Ms. Kala: A childhood friend’s love for books and the generous sharing of her hoard with me, started my tryst with the written word. A dear English teacher helped further this interest. P.G. Wodehouse’s works still continue to inspire me.
When the running commentary of thoughts and words in my head became too overwhelming to hold in place, Relax-N-Rave came into being.
Q8. Your strength and weakness as a blogger.
Ms. Kala: I’d be clichéd if I say, “My strength is knowing my weakness.” My strength would be my ability to generate authentic and unique content in different genres from décor and lifestyle to humor, fiction, and poetry. My blog’s USP is, “Always expect the unexpected”! On the other hand, my weakness would be, too many non-blogging spells!
Q9. One principle you are proud of.
Ms. Kala: Being different, unique and thoroughly authentic in whatever genre I choose to write.
Q10. Blogging tips to share with your readers.
Ms. Kala:
1) Don’t be afraid to experiment with your writing style or genre. Nothing confines creativity like being slotted into niches!
2) Be genuine in all you write which includes writing on your blog and commenting on other blogs.
3) CONTENT IS KING – ALWAYS!
4) Neither Rome nor a GREAT blog was built in a day, so yes, work, watch, learn and be patient.
