With this “Chill Chat With Cool Bloggers” series,  I feel extremely happy to feature another awesome and friendly blogger Ms. Parul Thakur of happiness and food. Her #WomenAtWork and #ThursdayTreeLove are so popular blog linky parties.

Today I am very much delighted and honored to feature my best friend Parul to our readers. I take this as an opportunity to learn many innovative blogging strategies from her through this chill chat.

We had our chill chat to know more about her successful blogging journey and her fun side too. Carry on to enjoy her words of blogging wisdom.

And I dedicate this post as her surprise birthday gift. She celebrated her birthday yesterday. Will you join me in wishing her many more smiling and happy years to add to her life??

Hello, Parul Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Parul: I’m an Engineer, HR Professional. Wikipedian, Family Photographer, Life Lover, Moments Collector, and  Working Homemaker.

Q1.An ever since moment in your blogger life or your turning point in blogging.

Parul: It’s hard to say which particular one was a turning point in my life as a blogger. If I think 5 years ago, I would never share my blog posts on social media. I would publish occasionally and never talk about it. But then a friend who was also a peer at work encouraged me to give it a try. There has been no looking back since then. Every time I publish, I have the feeling if the post is good enough or not. But then I think about the voice that I always wanted to have through my words and I keep going. As much as blogging is about consistency, it is also about writing consistently.

Q2. Your definition of blog success.

ParulEmily Dickenson once said, “If I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain; If I can ease one life the aching, Or cool one pain, Or help one fainting robin unto his nest again, I shall not live in vain”.

Success is most often than not measured by metrics. Like stats, followers, popularity or money that one is making. Five years ago when I started writing, I had no clue about any of these. I only wanted to write and people to read and get something when they spend their precious time on my blog. It could be a thought, a moment of feeling that they are not alone or a picture that brightens their day. I am still at that point. I have a couple more followers now than I had imagined but to me that only means I have more chances to touch a life. If my blog can be remembered long after I am gone or I stop writing is when I would call it a successful one.

Q3. Your top 2 regular practices that have helped you in blogging.

ParulWriting and writing. I write long posts and I also write microblogs. I post pictures and sometimes I share a travel tale. Framing thoughts into words has been my mantra for blogging.

Q4. Your motivational factor for your best blog.

Parul: Personal stories. As much as I enjoy sharing pictures and travel tales – I love personal stories. Our lives are all connected and every time I write a personal story, I put my life out there in open with the thought that my readers will see their own life or parts of their lives in my words.

Q5. One relationship who contributed to making your blog.

Parul: Ah! Again a hard one. My parents are my most regular readers. VT is my biggest support and my brother C adds to my posts in terms of content. I love his comments whenever he shares. I know it is not one relationship but my family has been with me.

Q6. One factor, out of your comfort zone in blogging.

Parul: Comfort zone is called a comfort zone for a reason. Isn’t it? If I start writing fiction, is when I will step out of comfort zone. Currently, I am operating in a zone that has cushions and blankets all around.

Q7. A book / movie / person / blog that transformed you.

Parul: Many. It will be unfair to name a few. I am a part of many beautiful groups and I have made many friends. I think my moment of transformation was being a part of Blog-A-Rhythm and Write Tribe. These two groups have helped me grow as a regular blogger.

Q8. Your strength and weakness as a blogger.

ParulI would like to say that variety is both my strength and my weakness. As much as variety makes me happy and keeps me going, I always wonder that I have no niche. My blog is a potpourri of many things. In a world that demands a word for the type of blog, I am no one.

Q9. One principle you are proud of.

Parul: I am not a follow-for-follow kind of blogger. I follow blogs that I think I will be able to read or those genres that are of interest. I appreciate the many things people write but if I follow for following, I would never be able to reciprocate. Honesty that’s what means a lot to me.

Q10. Blogging tips to share with your readers.

Parul: If you are a reader, don’t lurk but say hi when you get a chance. It’s lovely to know who is reading and I would love to know who you are. If you are a blogger reader, be consistent with your blog. Blogging is hard work and if you are looking to stick around, stay put.

  1. Thanks for the feature Vasantha! Honestly, the way I am, I had forgotten about this interview 😉
It was good to read myself 🙂
Thanks for the surprise birthday gift! I celebrated it on Saturday 🙂

  2. The reason I bond well with Parul, online and offline, is we come from the same functioning of minds. Personal stories, blogging within comfort zone, no niche are the factors true for me too. I agree on the delurking part.
It was nice to read Paul’s answers to your questions, Vasantha. The questions were good and the quick answers in the last section interesting.
