While sitting leisurely, so many questions bloomed in my mind. How healthy I am? Do I have a healthy diet? Do I exercise regularly? Do I drink more glasses of water daily? Do I get enough sleep every day?Am I happy with my life style? Am I preparing the right food for my family? Whether I teach my son about being active?
My life totally changed after 2008. It was the year when I joined my Yoga practices. From that day on wards my perspective towards my life got a marvelous twist. From my life experiences, here’s 4 Ways to Live Healthy
Drink More Water
Now a days, most of us fail to drink more water due to so many reasons. Water is essential for the proper functioning of our body. I resolved to drink more water every 3 hours in one or the other form as Green Tea, Hibiscus Tea, Tender Coconut, Butter Milk. This helps in my skin protection.
Start the day with Yoga
As I am a member of a Yoga Centre, I do my Yoga practices everyday during early morning. I feel something missing if I failed to do this due to some circumstances. Yoga refreshes me and provides the necessary energy for that day. I meditate after my Yoga and do some work outs too.
Healthy Food Is Healthy Mind
I prefer to eat many varieties of healthy food. We try to avoid junk foods mostly in our family. So I prefer to cook all the meals at home. Cooking is my heart. This makes our food healthy and hygienic.
ME Time
Reading is my breath. Reading keeps me relieved from stress. It improves my knowledge too. Reading and listening to music calms me down and makes me happy.
My Daily Diet
In empty stomach I drink Sesame Water ( 1 tsp of black sesame seeds soaked in water overnight ) or Fenugreek Water ( 1 tsp of methi seeds or fenugreek soaked in water overnight ). After Yoga, I have a cup of Green Tea.
Breakfast : Idli or Uppuma or Aappam or Chappathi or Venpongal ( All are South Indian Dishes )
Lunch : Any Soup, Chappathi, Rice, with Curry and Vegetables.
Drink : Tender Coconut, Green Tea, Butter Milk, Fresh Juice
Dinner : Idli or Oats Variety or Multigrain Dosa or Idiyappam ( All are South Indian Dishes )
Mindful Monday – Healthy Living :
Image Credit : www.slu.eduWhile eating, I started to have Mindful Eating which celebrates the eating. Mindful eating is eating with intention and attention. It is deliberately paying attention, being fully aware of what is happening both inside and outside yourself – in your body, heart and mind – and outside yourself, in your environment. Mindfulness is awareness without criticism or judgement.

Best wishes to you …. 🙂
It is such an inspirational post… Just loved it.thanks for sharing
You are welcome …. 🙂
I am loving this series of healthy eating. I have been asked to reduce at least 20 kgs. I am not sure if there is any other option except liposuction to get that result. But I’m not going for that. Yoga is something I am planning to join.
My best wishes to you, Rekha …. 🙂
I’ve been slowly becoming more conscious of the food I eat, Vasantha. We too prefer home-cooked and from scratch. My walking routine is back in place and I feel healthier already. Great reminders.
Great Corinne. Happy to hear about you …. 🙂
I do most of the things you have prescribed …..I wonder if I am healthy though?
Sure …. You are …. 🙂
Of the 4 pointers you have shared, I am lagging on the exercise part. I do it on and off, but it has still not become an integral part of daily life. I need to get this right!
My wishes to you, Shilpa …. 🙂
Vasantha, you are doing an amazing job! I would love to see some of your recipes for the Indian food you mentioned. I have been working with more vegetables and lots of seasonings to get the tastes without the fats! My intention is to start doing yoga and meditation on a regular basis. I have to learn to fit everything into my day. I think I am busier now that I am retired than when I worked! LOL! Thanks again for all your inspiration! Namaste! <3
Sure …. Colleen !!! You can expect some of the recipes soon ….. 🙂
